Course Description

In SketchUp 1, the toolsets provided by SketchUp were utilized. In SketchUp Level 2 students can add extensions on to their workspace completely transforming the interface and allowing for complex modeling. Students will learn how to use polymodelling to create their own bespoke furniture and kitchens. Students final projects will be a video animation where they will walk through the ground floor of a open plan house. You must have completed SketchUp 1 to qualify for this course. If you have learnt SketchUp from another institute, contact us to see if you are eligible for this course. 

Syllabus

Topic 1

• Adding extensions into sketchup 

• Creating double height ceiling in living area and flat ceiling in kitchen 

• Generating beams and stairs 

• Creating custom built in from scratch 

Topic 2

• Modelling kitchen 

• Creating custom shelving and adding handles 

• Adding kitchen appliances 

• Adding furniture from own library 

Topic 3

• Polymodelling on chair 

• Creating smooth surfaces

• Using advanced modifiers to create complex objects 

• Adding piping with follow me 

Topic 4

• Adding colour to the 3D

• Creating cameras

• Creating walk throughs 

• Creating animations

Requirements

Sketchup 1 or equivalent (inquire to see if you are eligible).

Materials

Laptop with 4GB RAM & wheel mouse.

Internship & Work Opportunities

The Designers’ Studio runs an active Internship Programme whereby we collaborate with several interior design companies and showrooms such as Pottery Barn, Ethan Allen, Crate and Barrel to name a few. The end goal of our training is to secure work in the industry for our graduates and we actively facilitate this. Work shadowing is organised for top students during holiday breaks. Great care is taken to match the student's aspirations and abilities with a suitable practice.

Our Main Teachers

Anam Clarke, founder of The Designers’ Studio, has in excess of 10 years of interior design experience, 9 of those in the Middle East including running her own practice. Born and raised in London, her grandfather and mother were both architects and designers. Her passion for art, architecture and design was rooted in her from the very start. She developed her passion and studied Architectural Interior Design at the prestigious Inchbald School of Design in Chelsea. She worked with the royals at David Linley Interiors during her career in London and moved to Dubai 9 years ago. Her portfolio includes Residential, Commercial, Hospitality and Food and Beverage projects all over the world. She has won awards for her design work and has been featured in magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Inside out, Grazia, Better Homes, Gulf News to name but a few. She speaks annually at the Index exhibition in the UAE and writes a column for ‘Emirates Home’ regularly. Anam is extremely passionate about design, sharing her open minded, out of the box approach to design with her students. Anam is particularly well-versed in programmes such as AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp and V-Ray and she looks forward to sharing her tricks of the trade with her students.
